The KAPPY ambulance service is fully staffed and equipped to provide first aid treatment to companion animals in a variety of settings including shows and film shoots.

Common conditions treated include:

Bite wounds Cut pads Muscle, ligament and tendon strains Heat stroke Allergic reactions especially from stings Breathing difficulties

The ambulance is also designed to deal with those animals that are more severely affected including placing them on a drip, providing oxygen therapy and close monitoring of vital parameters.

These animals can also be transported to a veterinary clinic in a controlled and supervised environment if necessary.

      

How much notice do you need?

As much as possible. This is especially the case if you or we feel that additional staffing needs to be provided in addition to the full time veterinary surgeon.

Will you attend any type of event?

In theory, yes. However if the ambulance is at the event it cannot help other animals so we will want to be sure that we are needed there.

Will you travel anywhere in the United Kingdom?

In theory, yes. However, once again, time spent travelling is time we cannot use to help animals so we will decide carefully.

How much will it cost?

This depends on a number of different factors such as: What the event is Where the event is How long the event lasts Whether a veterinary surgeon is required in addition

There are three options here although all may not be applicable to your event:

(1) There is no hire fee as such for you to pay and all our income will come from charges made to individual pet owners for services provided on the day.

We are more likely to agree to this option for events organised in aid of animal charities and trusts.

(2) A hire fee will be agreed in advance that will include any examinations and procedures carried out on the day plus any drugs and consumables used.

(3) A lesser fee will be agreed in advance that is only for hire of the ambulance and its staff.

We will then charge additional fees (either to you or more likely to individual pet owners) for any examinations and procedures carried out on the day plus any drugs and consumables used.

Please note that in both of the last two cases a deposit of no less than 50% of the agreed fee will be required prior to the event with payment of the outstanding amount and any additional fees on the day.
